WIC cards are coming to California doing away with the old checks, that slow down the checkout lines.
Have you ever been in line behind someone with milk, eggs, cheese, and WIC approved cereals and know that it will add an extra 15 minutes to your checkout? Or are you a low income parent (or guardian) who uses WIC to help supplement healthy food for your family who hates holding up the line with your WIC checks? Beginning December 2019, California WIC locations will be introducing the WIC Card.
Low income families, including military families with children up to five years old and pregnant women will no longer have to pull out each check and separate WIC items in order to make purchases. For many states WIC cards have been around for several years, but larger states with more recipients, like California, have waited in order to learn from any mistakes of those introducing the cards before.
