VICTORVILLE – A 19-year-old Victorville woman was arrested after calling 911 to report being the victim of an assault on Monday evening. At around 6:45 p.m. the woman, identified as Candace Sykes was involved in a physical altercation with her female roommate. The second roommate, 21-year-old Ralph Montez, went into the room and saw Sykes on top of the other roommate striking her with her hands.
“Montez pushed Sykes off of the woman,” said Victorville Sheriff’s Station spokeswoman Mara Rodriguez. “Sykes then got up from the ground with a knife in her hand and threatened to kill Montez and the woman.” Montez punched Sykes in the face as she ran toward him with the knife in her hand. A third female who was at the home was able to take possession of the knife.
Sykes with her face then bloodied went to a nearby home to use the phone to call 911. Deputies arrived at the home in the 13900 block of Kicking Horse Circle in the City of Victorville and interviewed all of the involved parties. At the conclusion of the interviews, Sykes was arrested and booked into the High Desert Detention Center for assault with a deadly weapon and threatening crime with intent to terrorize. Montez was cited and released at the scene for battery.
