RANCHO MIRAGE, Ca. – A Palm Desert woman was arrested after a DUI traffic collision which injured her child, authorities said.
Deputies from the Rancho Mirage Stations said that on Tuesday, October 1, 2019, at around 3:56 p.m., a report was made about a single-vehicle collision on Highway 111 and Rancho Las Palmas in Rancho Mirage. Shirley Day, 38, of Palm Desert, was driving her white Mercedes-Benz when she struck an occupied white Ford Edge at the location. Her child sustained minor injuries as a result of the crash.
One of the occupants in the Ford reported some back pain resulting from the crash. Day was found to be under the influence of alcohol but was transported to the hospital to be medically cleared. Day was cleared and was subsequently booked at the Indio jail for driving under the influence and child endangerment

The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department urges all drivers not to drink and drive.
