VICTORVILLE – A woman was nearly hit by a vehicle after a dispute over a purse found in a dumpster behind a Victorville Goodwill store on Monday morning. At around 8:40 a.m. deputies from the Victorville station responded to the Goodwill store located at 14580 7th Street in the City of Victorville.
When they arrived they learned that 74-year-old Brenda Sue Knox, of Victorville, got into her vehicle during the argument and attempted to run the victim, a 37-year-old Victorville woman over. “The victim was able to get behind a table and then a block wall to avoid being hit,” said Victorville Sheriff’s Station spokeswoman Mara Rodriguez.
There were no injuries reported as a result of the incident, it is unclear if the victim was able to leave with the purse that initially ignited the dispute.
Knox was booked into the High Desert Detention for assault with a deadly weapon. She was later transferred to the West Valley Detention Center. According to inmate records, Knox is scheduled to appear at the Victorville Superior court on Wednesday afternoon and is being held on $50,000 bail.
