An Australlian woman was arrested after decapitating her mother in front of her 4-year-old nephew.
On Saturday, July 20, 2019, police from the New South Wales (NSW) responded to a home on St Clair Avenue at around 11:40 p.m. for the report of an argument. When they arrived they found the decapitated head of Rita Camilleri, 57. Inside the home, was the rest of her body which sustained multiple injuries, police said. Her 25-year-old daughter, Jessica Camilleri, was found next door to the home where she allegedly told neighbors she killed her mother.
Multiple knives were taken as evidence in the bloody murder of the woman. Jessica Camilleri was taken into custody and transported to the St Marys Police Station. The 4-year-old boy, Jessica’s nephew and Rita’s grandson, who was home during the incident sustained a minor head injury and was transported to the hospital. In court, Jessica Camilleri said that she was in agony due to several mental health issues. The judge ordered a mental health assessment to determine if she is able to stand trial at this time.
Multiple crime scene areas have been established, both inside and outside of the home. The investigation is ongoing.
