A woman was charged for killing a 91-year-old man in a hit-and-run traffic collision in June 2019.
Joyce Bernann McKinney, 68, allegedly ran over Genady Bolotsy, a Holocaust survivor, as he walked his dog in the marked crosswalk on June 17, 2019. The collision occurred near the corner of Magnolia Boulevard and Wilkinson Avenue, prosecutors said. Bolotsky died as a result of his injuries and McKinney continued driving without stopping to render aid.
McKinney faces on felony count each of assault with a deadly weapon (an automobile), hit-and-run driving resulting in death, and vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence. She is also accused of inflicting great bodily injury on Bolotsy, who was over 70 years of age.
She is scheduled to be arraigned at the Van Nuys Superior Court on Friday, July 15, 2019. McKinney faces up to 11 years in prison if convicted as charged.
