ADELANTO – An Adelanto couple was arrested for the kidnapping and rape of a woman that they made contact with via the social media app “Tagged”.
On Tuesday, October 10, 2017, at around 2:20 p.m. a 911 call was received stating that a woman walked into the Winco on Roy Rogers Drive stating that she was kidnapped and the suspect(s) were outside of the store inside a white van. Deputies responded and detained both suspects, identified as Andre Winn, 47, and Victoria Cantey, 19, as they attempted to leave the store parking lot in a white van.
Authorities said through investigation they learned that the female victim met Andre Winn though the social media site and they agreed to meet in the City of Compton. Soon after meeting Winn sexually assaulted the victim, then drove her to a home in the 18900 block of Bellflower Street in the City of Adelanto. Victoria Cantey was at the home when they arrived and upon the victim’s arrival Cantey, sexually assaulted her. The victim said that she was held against her will by the couple. A search warrant was obtained and executed where evidence corroborating the victim’s allegations was found.
Both Winn and Cantey were arrested without incident and were booked into the High Desert Detention Center for the rape and kidnapping. Winn, who is also on probation out of Los Angeles County is being held in lieu of $1 million bail. Cantey is being held in lieu of $100,000 bail.
