LOS ANGELES, Calif. – A 30-year-old Los Angeles woman will be spending 15 years behind bars for her 4th of July brick attack on a 91-year-old man.
Century Station deputies responded to an assault on July 4, 2018, at around 7:30 p.m., in the area of East 118th and Robin Streets in an unincorporated area of Los Angeles. Authorities said that the woman, identified as Laquisha Jones attacked the elderly man with a brick without provocation. The man, identified as Rodolfo Rodriguez sustained severe injuries as a result of the attack.
The incident was investigated and a search and arrest warrant were obtained for the suspect. The investigation resulted in the arrest of Laquisha Jones. Detectives and the District Attorney’s office worked together to provide information to the court.
Jones pleaded no contest on December 27, 2018, to one count of elder abuse, infliction of injury, and also admitted allegations of using a deadly and dangerous weapon, a brick, during the commission of the crime and that she inflicted great bodily injury upon the victim. She also admitted that she was convicted in 2017 of making criminal threats.
She was sentenced last Thursday to 15 years for the assault.
