RIVERSIDE – A woman was struck and killed by a train crossing Tyler Street and Indiana Avenue on Friday Morning. At around 8:53 a.m. firefighters from the Riverside City Fire Department responded to the report that a woman was hit by a passing freight train. When they arrived moments later they found the woman’s body on the south side of the tracks.
The identity of the woman has not been disclosed at this time and her age remains unknown. The Engineer and Conductor, although shaken up by the incident were not injured as a result of the incident. The conductor told authorities that they saw the woman and sounded the train’s horn to warn the woman, but she did not respond. The incident remains under investigation by the Riverside Police Department.
