MORENO VALLEY, Calif. – A Moreno Valley man and woman were arrested for child abuse that led to major injuries to one child and other injuries to a second child.
On Sunday, June 23, 2019, deputies responded to a home in the 26500 block of Fir Avenue in the City of Moreno Valley for the report of a male juvenile not breathing. Fire and emergency medical personnel arrived and rendered first aid to the child and subsequently transported him to the hospital for lifesaving treatment. The child required emergency surgery as a result of his injuries and remains in critical condition.
As a result of the suspicious nature of the child’s injuries, investigators responded to the hospital and the child’s home to resume the investigation. At the home a second child, a female juvenile was found to be suffering from non-life-threatening injuries. The female child remains hospitalized in stable condition. The investigation revealed that Eric Pacheco, 34, and Tanya Conchola, 38, both of Moreno Valley were responsible for the injuries to the children.
The other children were contacted and it was learned that they also have been abused by Pacheco and Conchola for a considerable time frame. Both were arrested for four counts of Child Abuse Likely to Produce Great Bodily Injury and were booked at the Robert Presley Detention Center. Bail was set at 2.5 Million dollars for Pacheco and $140,000 for Conchola.
