INDIO – The California Highway Patrol (CHP) Indio Division has released statistics for the Labor Day weekend compared to those in previous years. The data includes DUI Arrests, collisions and collisions resulting in fatalities. Labor Day initiated a Maximum Enforcement Response for the CHP due to the increased traffic due to the holiday travels. This additional enforcement was in place from Friday September 2nd to 11:59 p.m. Monday September 5th (Labor Day).
Collisions more than doubled, while the number for DUI arrests went down slightly.
