A 19-year-old Marine was arrested for the possession of child pornography earlier this week following a month long investigation.
On May 14, 2020, the Morongo Basin Station detectives received a tip regarding a suspect uploading child pornography to their online Dropbox account. Authorities were able to identify the suspect as 19-year-old Robert Barrett, an active duty marine who was stationed in Twentynine Palms at the time of the upload. An arrest warrant was issued for the marine who was most recently stationed at Camp Pendleton Marine Corps. Base in Oceanside.
An arrest warrant was issued and on Wednesday, June 24, 2020, he was arrested and booked at the West Valley Detention Center for Possession of Child Pornography and is being held in lieu of $100,000 bail.
