ADELANTO – Spring is in the air, and with Spring comes the yearly tradition of a big clean up many refer to as Spring Cleaning. The City of Adelanto is offering an opportunity for residents that would like to get rid of unwanted household items, saving them the time and money of transporting it to the local landfill.
The City of Adelanto, along with AVCO Disposal Company is hosting a clean-up and dump day on Saturday, April 22nd. This will be part of three yearly events. “This is something that we do each year in April, July and October to not only make it easier for our residents to get rid of unwanted items, but more importantly, to cut down on illegal dumping in the city.” Last year the city collected approximately 89 tons of trash. With the cost of dumping a van or truckload of normal household waste in a large van being only around $20 at the Victorville Landfill Facility on Stoddard Wells, excuses to illegally dump should be invalidated.
Earth Day 2017 and the Adelanto Community Clean-up and free dump day coincidentally landed on the same day, which is even more of a reason to celebrate. The event is for Adelanto residents only. All residents must bring a water bill or another proof of residence. No hazardous waste will be accepted. Mattresses, furniture, household trash, televisions, computer monitors, small tires (without rims), paints, etc.
The Department Safety staff will be on hand for the collection of items at Adelanto Stadium at 7:30 a.m. and at the corner of Auburn Avenue and New Hampshire Road at 8:00 a.m. for those who would like to volunteer for the community clean-up. Taking pride in the community and working on keeping it neat and clean is important to experience for the entire family. “The City of Adelanto is committed to ensuring a safe and clean community for our residents and visitors to enjoy,”said Kerr.
