ADELANTO – As a result of a blood shortage throughout the Inland Empire, the City of Adelanto has partnered with Lifestream to host a blood drive. The bloodmobile will be at the City Hall, located at 11600 Air Expressway in Adelanto on Wednesday, July 18, 2018, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
“Lifestream needs to collect over 16,000 blood donations this summer to keep our hospitals stocked,” said the Event Coordinator at the City Hall, Virginia Cervantes. “And we are asking not just Adelanto but all High Desert residents to support the blood drive.” With the supplies already being low, and with summer typically bringing less donations are really increasingly necessary.
A photo ID with proof of age is required to donate and drinking plenty of fluids prior to donating is important. A 2017 Harley Davidson XL883 motorcycle, valued at $9500 will be awarded to one person who donates between June 1st and August 7th at any mobile blood drive or either one of five donor centers including the Adelanto blood drive. Donors must be 18-years-old or older, or those under 18-years-old can donate with written parental consent.
“We’re making it convenient for people to participate by allowing them to schedule appointments,” said Cervantes. Those interested should call (800)879-4484 or visit: www.LStream.org/ExpressPass. For more information contact Cervantes at: vcervantes@ci.adelanto.ca.us or (442)249-1124. For information about the Harley giveaway visit: www.lstream.org/Harley
