Apple Valley Saturday Morning Crash Kills One

APPLE VALLEYA car versus semi-tractor trailer collision claimed the life of one man in the Town of Apple Valley on Saturday morning. At around 4:43 a.m. a traffic collision between a 1999 Ford Taurus and a semi-tractor trailer was reported on Bear Valley Road and Jess Ranch Parkway.

When deputies and emergency medical personnel arrived they located the two vehicles, the Ford with major front-end damage and the semi-tractor trailers back end damage. As firefighters prepared to extricate the male occupant inside the Ford who was later identified as Phillip Kain, 46, of Apple Valley but he was confirmed to be deceased. It does not appear as though there were any other occupants inside the Ford at the time of the collision.


The investigation revealed that Jesus De Leon, 54, of Victorville was driving east on Bear Valley Road west of Reata Road. Kain was traveling in the same direction and collided into the back of DeLeon’s trailer he was towing. At this time it is unknown if distracted driving, medical conditions or alcohol or drug impairment were a factor in the collision.

 

There were no other injuries reported as a result of this traffic collision. Bear Valley Road was closed eastbound from Jess Ranch Parkway to Reata Road for the Major Accident Team (MAIT) investigation, which should take several hours. No further information is available at this time, additional information will be updated as it is received.
