FONTANA – A week and a half long investigation led to the arrest of the suspect involved in a shooting that killed a 21-year-old Fontana man. On August 25, 2017, at around 6:36 a.m. police responded to the report of a man down in front of a home in the 9400 block of Juniper Avenue in the City of Fontana. When they arrived they located a Hispanic man, later identified as Miguel Hernandez dead as a result of a gunshot wound.
Detectives worked extensively investigating, following every viable lead and determined that Hernandez was involved in some type of confrontation with Martin Jauregui Jr., 19 of Fontana. The incident escalated and Jauregui allegedly shot Hernandez, killing him.
Jauregui was located at his home on Tuesday, September 5, 2017, in the 9300 block of Juniper Avenue and a search warrant was served by the Inland Valley Swat Team and Fontana Police detectives. Jauregui was arrested and booked into the West Valley Detention Center for the murder of Miguel Hernandez. He is being held in lieu of $1 million bail. .
