Australian Government Plans to Use Poisoned Sausages to Kill Millions of Feral Cats

The Australian government, in an attempt to kill approximately 2 million feral cats will be dropping poisoned sausages from planes.

Officials said that the millions of free roaming cats threaten the native species across the county, leading to the extinction of approximately twenty species. The feral cats continue to multiply causing a massive problem. The sausages made of kangaroo meat, chicken fat, and spices can kill the cats within around 15 minutes of consumption, the New York Times reported. In addition, the government has allegedly sent crews out to shoot some of the cats in order to rid the country of the “problem”. The man who created the recipe and is making the sausages has said since the sausage is the cat’s last meal, he made them to taste good.

In a recent study, it was reported that the feral cats have killed nearly 400 million birds and nearly 650 million reptiles each year.
