HESPERIA, Ca. – Authorities are asking for help to identify the driver in a dark-blue pickup truck that killed a 50-year-old Hesperia man in a hit-and-run crash on Tuesday.
At around 6:28 p.m. police responded to the area of Seventh Avenue and Cactus Street in response to a report of a vehicle versus bicyclist. When they arrived they found the bike and Armando Salinas, 50, of Hesperia. lying on the southbound lane of Seventh Avenue, south of Cactus Street in the City of Hesperia. Salinas was unresponsive and was determined to be deceased at the scene.
Witnesses told authorities reported a dark-colored pickup truck traveling southbound struck Salinas while he was riding his bicycle. The truck them fled the scene. The road way closed from Cactus to Mesquite Street until Wednesday, December 18, 2019, at around 1:00 a.m. It is unknown if alcohol or speed were a contributing factor in the collision.
The Hesperia Police Department, Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) is investigating the collision. The investigation is on-going. MAIT investigators are seeking the assistance of the public to identify the dark color pickup truck and its driver. Anyone who may have witnessed the collision or might have information pertinent to the case is encouraged to contact the Hesperia Police Department.
