RIVERSIDE, Calif. – The Riverside man who attempted to kidnap a teen earlier this week has been identified but authorities believe he may have fled to Mexico to avoid capture.
On Tuesday, August 6, 2019, at around 8-8:30 a.m., Riverside Police Officers responded to the report of an attempted kidnapping in the 6200 block of Rutland Avenue in the Arlanza neighborhood in Riverside. The female teen was walking on the sidewalk when the Hispanic man approached her. The suspect grabbed the girl and attempted to force her into the White 2010-2013 Toyota Tundra 4-door pickup, with dark tinted windows and an unknown license plate. She fought the suspect off and ran away. The suspect sped away in his pickup truck.
The victim was able to describe the suspect and she was also able to assist with information for a composite sketch. Continuous investigation led to the suspect vehicle being located less than 24 hours after the incident. The vehicle was processed for potential evidence, and detectives determined that the owner was not the suspect or involved in the kidnapping attempt. It was learned that the suspect had borrowed the truck and used it during the attack.
The collected information and surveillance from a local business, led to the identification of the attempted kidnapping suspect as Henry “Oscar” Mazariegos-Gonzalez, 29, or Riverside. All efforts and resources are being utilized to locate Henry Mazariegos-Gonzalez.
