MECCA – The driver of a collision involving a school bus on Friday morning left the scene and authorities need help identifying the driver.
At around 7:35 a.m. the driver of a school bus carrying 66 children was struck from behind while driving westbound on 70th Avenue, approaching Cleveland Street. The driver activated the rear lights on the 2004 school bus and he began to slow as he approached a bus stop. When he stopped, a white sedan struck the bus from behind. After the collision, the driver of the sedan stopped on the right shoulder behind the bus. He remained there for around 5 minutes and pulled to the front of the bus stopping for around 5 additional minutes. The driver of the sedan then left the scene.
No injuries were reported as a result of the collision and the bus sustained very minor damage as a result of the collision. The white sedan may have minor front-end damage.This collision is still under investigation. It is unknown at this time if alcohol and/or drugs were a factor. If anyone has information regarding the suspect and/or suspect vehicle, we are asking
