LAKE ELSINORE – A Homicide investigation is underway after deputies responded to the report of an assault with a deadly weapon on Sunday. At around 12:20 a.m. deputies from the Lake Elsinore Station responded to the 300 block of Avenue 5 in the City of Lake Elsinore. Upon arrival, deputies located a Hispanic male victim who was suffering from a single gunshot wound.
The male victim was pronounced dead at the scene. The Central Homicide Unit responded to the scene and along with Investigators from the Lake Elsinore Station assumed the investigation. There is a person of interest at this time, but there are no outstanding suspects, authorities said.
No arrests have been made at this time and the name of the victim has not been disclosed at this time. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Master Investigator Button from the Central Homicide Unit at 760-393-3531.
