AZUSA, Calif. – A 28-year-old employee with the Azusa Unified School District was arrested for allegedly having an unlawful sexual relationship with a minor.

Authorities said that they became aware of the alleged acts on May 3 , 2019, at around 2:20 p.m. The report indicated that an adult employee at the Azusa Unified School District had an illicit sexual relationship with the minor. Police officers and detectives were not able to substantiate the allegation.

Further investigation revealed that Jessica Marie Esparza was the adult employee who engaged in sexual activity with the minor. Contact with made with Esparza and the victim was identified. Detectives learned that the relationship began 2 years ago when the victim was 16-years-old and lasted for a year.

School district officials did not release any information about the position that was held by Esparza, they would only say she was a part-time employee. Esparza was arrested and charged with Lewd Acts on a Child.
