APPLE VALLEY, Calif. – The Apple Valley Fire Protection District (AVFPD) is warning the community about a subject who is impersonating fire personnel.
A tenant at the Bear Valley Mobile Home Park, located at 22838 Bear Valley Road reported the incident. The male subject who is described as a 19-20-year-old Hispanic male adult who is around 5’1 was wearing a blue uniform and badge. He asked to go inside the tenant’s home to do an inspection. He said that he was from San Bernardino County, doing inspections for Apple Valley Fire. The resident requested to see his badge, his name, or a business card but the subject refused.
The AVFPD reminds the community that they do not do home inspections unless they are requested by the homeowner. In addition, all fire departments, police departments, and utility companies will be willing to show their ID, badge, and will encourage you to call the agency that employs them for verification.
Suspicious activity should be reported immediately by calling 911. Be a good neighbor and inform neighbors, landlords, and tenants.Anyone with questions should contact the FireDistrict Headquarters at 760-247-7618.
