BARSTOW, Ca. – A home surveillance system, along with the investigation by the Barstow Police Department nabbed a residential burglar this week.
Police received a report on January 10, 2020, at around 6:54 p.m. reporting that the female resident was not at home but her home surveillance captured an unknown male subject inside her home on the 1000 block of Elizabeth Street. She also told dispatchers that he was taking items from the home and eventually left out the back door of the home.
Officers arrived at the home, but did not locate the suspect after searching the interior and exterior of the home. The description of the suspect was broadcasted to patrolling officers, but the suspect was still not located. On January 28, 2020,information was received that the suspect was possibly at the Desert Inn Motel, located in the 1000 block of Main Street. Officers made contact with the suspect identified as 41-year-old, Jesus Velasquez, who admitted to the burglary.
