BARSTOW – A compliance operation, which includes contact with probationers and parolees yielded six arrests on Wednesday, May 2, 2018.
Beginning at 10:00 a.m. multiple law enforcement agencies joined the Barstow Police to check the compliance of multiple individuals on active probation or parole including Post Release Community Supervision (PRCS). Sixteen officers took part in the compliance check which included residence checks and searches of the subjects on PRCS, parole or probation.
At around 11:07 a.m. police went to the home of parolee Andrew Crin Ramirez on the 2000 block of Borrego Drive in the City of Barstow. Ramirez was on probation for being a felon in possession or access to a firearm. At the home, they not only located twelve rounds of .25 caliber ammunition, but several military devices suspected of being ordnance inside and on the balcony of the home. The apartment was evacuated and the Fort Irwin Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) responded to the scene. The military ordnance was inspected and the items were identified as approximately 17 inert military ordnance fuses. The items were collected for proper disposal. Ramirez was found hiding in the attic of the home and was arrested for felon in possession of ammunition, and an outstanding warrant for Draw/Exhibit a Firearm in a Rude/Threatening Manner.
Just over an hour later, authorities went to the home of Henry Ford, located in the 200 block of Yucca Avenue. Ford is on parole for criminal threats and possessing firearms. FOrd was arrested for Felon in Possession of a Firearm.
In addition to the above-mentioned arrests, Cory Upperman and Monica Madrid were arrested for probation violations. Madrid also had a warrant. Andrea James and Scout Birdsong were both arrested for warrants.
The compliance check was done by the Barstow Police Department along with the San Bernardino County Probation Department, California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation and San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.
