BARSTOW – A 19-year-old Barstow resident, who was on felony probation at the time of a residential burglary was arrested for a burglary that took place on February 27th of this year.
At around 2:45 p.m. that day a woman called 911 to report that she left her home located in the 1700 block of Church Street for a short time and returned to find her garage open and a window of her home broken out. Based on some items being left behind in her garage, which included a Mossberg 12 gauge shotgun from her bedroom, authorities believe that when she returned home the suspect was scared and fled the home.
An evidence technician responded to the home to process the scene. Several items of evidence were located and sent to the San Bernardino Sheriff’s Department Scientific Investigation Division for processing. Evidence linked the crime to David Preston. Preston’s address was obtained and on August 24, 2017, at around 10:45 a.m., deputies arrived at the home in the 900 block of Armory Road and arrested Preston without incident.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Peter D’Andrea at (760) 255-5183 or at the Barstow Police Department at (760) 256-2211.
