BARSTOW, Ca. – Barstow Police are asking any witnesses to a shooting earlier this month to report what they know about the incident.
On February 17, 2020, at around 2:12 p.m. police were dispatched to the 200 block of North Yucca Avenue for the report of a shooting .As they responded to the scene they received a call from Barstow Community Hospital regarding a male subject who was receiving treatment for multiple gunshot wounds. The hospital staff said that the subject was dropped off at the emergency room. Officers responded to the scene of the shooting and to the hospital.
The 33-year-old victim, a Barstow man, was treated for gunshot wounds to his legs and back when the police arrived to make contact with him. The victim told police that he was at an apartment complex when an unknown male subject began shooting at him. He said that his friend drove him to the hospital emergency room. A detective interviewed multiple witnesses at the scene of the shooting. The suspect was described as a 20-25-year-old, thin build, light-skinned black man.
Officers canvassed the scene and located several fired cartridge casings. Evidence Technician Deanna Schooler and Detective Arias processed the shooting scene.
