BARSTOW – A popular Barstow restaurant in the City of Barstow was duped out of $100 on Tuesday evening.
The restaurant’s management said that an older black male adult entered the Los Domingos Restaurant and Hotel, located at 1520 E. Main Street on Tuesday evening and asked the cashier to change five $20 bills to a $100 bill. The cashier gladly assisted, but once complete the male subject asked for the $20’s back in exchange for a $100 bill. Restaurant management said that the unidentified subject changed the $100 bill that they handed him for a different, counterfeit $100 bill before making the exchange and left the restaurant.
Once the photos were shared through social media, several local businesses in the Barstow area have said that they had also fallen victim to this or similar scams, some even saying by the same man. Los Domingos staff said that they will now no longer be able to provide change for customers due to the incident.
Anyone with information or who can identify the subject captured on video surveillance should call the Barstow Police at (760) 256-2211.
