MESA VERDE – A Mesa Verde couple were arrested after the woman’s 18-year-old daughter with severe mental disabilities was found deceased on Saturday.
The young deceased woman, identified as Kaylina Anderson was found in the bedroom of her family’s home at 12:07 a.m. in the 18000 block of Palowalla Drive in the Mesa Verde community. Authorities said that Anderson required full-time care and supervision as a result of her mental disabilities. When located, her physical appearance, substandard living conditions, and the fact that her death was determined to be an “unattended” sparked a homicide investigation.
In addition to Kaylina Anderson, three small children, all 6-years-old and younger were found in the home. Child Protective Services took custody of the remaining children. Days later, on Wednesday, March 14, 2018, Kaylina’s mother, Jill Williams, 35, and her step-father, Steven Williams, 40, were arrested for murder and were booked into the Indio jail. Both are being held in lieu of $1,000,000 bail.
