CHINO HILLS– A 49-year-old Chino man was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon and animal cruelty after a Sunday afternoon incident.
At around 12:28 p.m. deputies responded to the 4800 block of Francis Avenue in the City of Chino. When deputies arrived they found a 19-year-old woman who had a superficial wound on the left side of her neck and on her right knee. The woman reported that the abrasion on her neck was caused by Vincente Lopez pressing the pointed tip of a sword into her neck and the knee abrasion by Lopez biting her.
Authorities said that an approximately 2.5-foot sword was located in Lopez’s bedroom and he was arrested without incident at the scene. While in the room, deputies noticed a small fully-zipped bag move. They opened the bag to find a small Husky, in the vinyl-lined bag. The small dog, who did not have proper airflow for an undetermined amount of time, was visibly limp and had shallow breathing. Animal Control responded to the scene to transport the puppy to the veterinarian for evaluation and treatment.
Lopez was booked into the West Valley Detention Center for assault with a deadly weapon and animal cruelty. He is being held in lieu of $50,000 bail and is scheduled to appear at the Rancho Cucamonga Superior Court on Tuesday.
