ADELANTO – The City of Adelanto and AVCO Disposal Company, together will be offering their second of four 2018 Free Dump Days this Saturday, April 21, 2018, from 8:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. This is a highly popular event, that helps residents get rid of their unwanted items without the cost or trip to the dump.
“We’ve had phenomenal participation by our residents each time we conduct a free dump day and I’m proud of the fact that our residents take pride in the appearance of our community,” said Mayor Rich Kerr. “There’s always more that can be done, which is why we continue to hold these events,” Kerr added. Proof of Adelanto residence will be requested prior to being allowed into the dumping area.
Adelanto officials said that the only restricted item are those that would be classified as hazardous waste. “They can bring mattresses, furniture, household trash, televisions, computer monitors, small tires (without the rims)—just about anything that would find its way into a trash can, the landfill or worse…a field in Adelanto,” said Mayor Kerr. “We encourage our residents and businesses to remember and observe the 3 R’s: Reduce waste before it starts, Reuse items and materials as much as possible, and Recycle when you have reduced and reused,” said Roman De La Torre, Code Compliance Officer.
The most recent dump day, held in February was a success with over 84 tons of trash and debris. In addition to the 84 tons, there were 116 mattresses and 12 pallets of E-Waste dumped. This event provides residents the ease of legally dumping their unwanted items free of charge.
