TUCSON, Ariz. – A 29-year-old Colton pimp was sentenced to 20 years in prison for trafficking two minors. Derek Lamont Terry was sentenced earlier this month after pleading guilty to two counts of transportation of minors with the intent to engage in prostitution.
The judge handed down the sentence after expressing her reasoning behind it. “I see you as a predator of these young teenaged girls,” commented Judge Jorgenson. Through investigation into the case, detectives learned that Terry was managing, coordinating and receiving the proceeds from trafficking the underaged females. Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) agents learned that between January and April 2016, Terry trafficked the first minor female between Arizona and California. Terry posted escort service online in California and Arizona. The victim was rescued during an undercover operation in April 2016.
A second victim was brought from California through Arizona to Texas and back to Arizona. The ads for the victim were posted in each state. The victim was discovered with Terry during a traffic stop near Benson, Arizona, where she was rescued. When released from prison, Terry will be required to register as a sex offender,
