FONTANA, Calif. – The death of a 3-year-old child led to the arrest of her mother, who was already a convicted child abuser and her father.
On February 27, 2019, at around 12:50 p.m., officers from the Fontana Police Department responded to the report of the small child not breathing on the 9500 block of Madrona. The caller stated that the child’s face was turning blue. When officers arrived, they performed CPR on the small child until paramedics arrived to take over and rush the child to the hospital. The child’s mother, Miriam Sandoval Montano, 37, was arrested for attempted murder and the father, Richard Rojo, 34, was arrested for Felony Child Endangerment. Both were booked at the West Valley Detention Center. The children who were in the home were placed in the care of Children and Family Services.
On March 3, 2019, the victim died as a result of her injuries and her mother’s attempted murder charges were changed to Murder. She is being held without bail, as a result, her being on felony child abuse for abuse of the same child who is now deceased.
