SAN BERNARDINO – A 22-year-old Corona man was arrested for raping an unconscious woman authorities said. The victim contacted authorities on November 26, 2017, to report that she was raped the prior day while camping at the Glen Helen Raceway located in the 18000 block of Verdemont Road in San Bernardino.
Suspect Andrew Wood provided the woman with a large amount of alcohol, which led to her becoming sleepy. “Wood offered the victim a place to sleep in a nearby vehicle,” Sheriff’s officials said. “The victim entered the vehicle and fell asleep and a short time later, the victim woke up and Wood was on top of her having sexual intercourse. The victim never gave Wood consent to have sexual intercourse and believed she was raped.”
The allegations were investigated and information was gathered that supported the victim’s account of the incident. A warrant was issued for Wood’s arrest and on December 7, 2017, Wood was arrested in the City of Ontario. He was booked into the West Valley Detention center for Rape of an Unconscious Person.
