OCEANSIDE, Ca. – A 31-year-old Fontana man lost his life after going into Oceanside Harbor Beach and never resurfacing late Sunday afternoon.
Jose Giron, 31, drove with his family to Oceanside to visit the beach, San Diego County Coroner’s officials said. His family told authorities that Jose was last seen alive at around 4:00 p.m. Just before going missing, he told them that he would be going into the ocean to swim. When Jose did not resurface, his family began searching for him.
After searching, the family called 911 to report Jose missing and Oceanside Police took the report and shared a missing person post and photo with the public in hopes that he would be found safe.
Jose’s body was found washed up on the shore by a lifeguard who immediately began performing CPR on him. Oceanside Fire Department personnel arrived on scene and resumed resuscitative efforts. Jose Giron could not be revived and his death was pronounced.
