PALM SPRINGS – A Palm Springs couple’s dine and dash did not turn out exactly as planned on Tuesday morning, officials said. At around 8:30 a.m. a group of Palm Springs detectives stopped to get a bit to eat at Elmer’s Restaurant located at 1030 East Palm Canyon Drive in Palm Springs.
While enjoying their meal, officers noticed a suspicious-looking couple walk away from the table next to them. After speaking with the staff the detectives learned the couple dined and dashed from the table directly next to them.
The detectives went outside to find the fleeing couple while witnesses pointed in the direction they fled. The couple ran across the street behind some hotels and separated hoping to lose authorities. Both Shawn Deans, 27 and Shona Morrison, 35 were located in two different locations across the street from the restaurant.
Both were arrested for probation violations (Deans’ felony and Morrison’s misdemeanor), defrauding an innkeeper and burglary.
