DESERT HOT SPRINGS, Ca. – A residential burglary suspect was arrested after an audible alarm alerted Desert Hot Springs Police to the 10000 block of Verbena Drive in the City of Desert Hot Springs.
On Sunday, August 25, 2019, at around 10:42 p.m., the homeowner called police to report that they could see a white male adult, wearing a cowboy hat attempting to break into their home from their surveillance system. When police arrived they saw the suspect who matched the description provided by the homeowner crawling out of a window of the home. The suspect noticed the officers and went back into the home and refused to come out.
The California Highway Patrol Helicopter, deputies and the Sheriff’s K9 Unit responded to the home and the suspect crawled out of the living room window. Rather than surrendering to authorities, he ran through a nearby desert area attempting to flee the scene. After a brief foot pursuit, the suspect, Gregory Gaw, 55, was arrested for Residential Burglary.
