INDIO – A 55-year-old Desert Hot Springs man lost his life after a single-vehicle traffic collision on the 10 freeway, west of State Route 62.
On Friday, December 28, 2018, at around 7:30 p.m. George Hoffman was driving a 2000 Chevrolet Tahoe eastbound on the 10 freeway when for unknown reasons he traveled to the right, off the roadway, and onto the dirt shoulder near exit #117. Mr. Hoffman was not secured by a seatbelt and was consequently ejected from the vehicle during the collision.
When emergency medical personnel arrived, Mr. Hoffman was pronounced deceased at the scene. The cause of the collision remains under investigation. Alcohol and/or drugs do not appear to be a factor in the collision.
