COACHELLA – A Thermal man was arrested after colliding into the back of a parked semi tractor-trailer on Sunday. Authorities said that the incident that occurred in the area of Fillmore Street and Avenue 54 was reported at around 6:23a.m.
Coachella officers responded to the scene and learned that the suspect, identified as Jose Gutierrez Centeno, 24, was driving southbound on Fillmore Street when he collided into the semi tractor trailer. Centeno exited his vehicle and fled on foot, but was located a short time later. Centeno, who was determined to be driving under the influence of alcohol suffered minor injuries. He was transported to the hospital, treated and was medically cleared. He was then booked into the Indio Jail for driving under the influence and hit and run.
