VICTORVILLE – Being a survivor of major trauma is a triumph that not many can fully fathom. The steps it takes, from recognition of the problem to surviving the traumatic effects, and then finally achieving personal success can seem like successfully climbing a steep mountain during a rockslide.
The Family Assistance program is there for these survivors to provide support, resources, and comfort during a time of despair. Along the way, they continue to support their clients until the goal is reached, and many times with follow up support. For each, the goal is different since the Family assistance program serves those with diverse needs. With the support of the Family Assistance Program, many make it through the programs with a new outlook on life. The Family Assistance Program is proud to honor survivors who have been through their program and now are able to look back as the difficult time as an achievement.
The “Dreams Come True” Gala, will honor four people; people who have stood out as clients from their Hope House—domestic violence shelter, Open Door — for victims of human trafficking, The FAM Spot —the youth center, and Our House —the youth runaway shelter. Out of the many clients that the Family Assistance Program serves, the four selected have shown prodigious resilience despite their difficult past.
On October 1, 2017, these accomplishments will be celebrated at the Hilton Garden Inn, located at 12603 Mariposa Road in the City of Victorville. The gala will be from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. and will include an awards ceremony, entertainment by ‘BOK’, dinner, and a silent auction. Sponsors are needed to support the amazing event, and tickets are available for $65 each or $110 per couple.
