Family of 11-Year-Old Victorville Boy Struck By Vehicle Needs Help

VICTORVILLE – The family of the 11-year-old Victorville boy who was struck by a vehicle and left with major injuries is in need of the community’s help. The child, identified as Fabian Sanchez a Puesta Del Sol Elementary school student, was struck by a Honda Accord on Friday, February 3, 2017.
Fabian was walking home from school and attempted to cross Village Drive when a northbound traveling vehicle struck the small child.

The driver of the Honda stopped immediately and called 911. When emergency medical personnel arrived at the scene Fabian was lying in the roadway unresponsive in the northbound lane of  Village Drive between Eto Camino Road and Puesta Del Sol Drive. The mother of Fabian rushed to the scene shortly after the collision. An air ambulance was requested, but due to the weather Fabian was transported by ground to Loma Linda Children’s Hospital.

Although Fabian was unresponsive and suffered major life-threatening injuries, emergency medical personnel was able to revive and stabilize him during transport. Fabian remains at Loma Linda Children’s Hospital in a medically induced coma and is suffering from brain swelling, brain bleeding, a broken jaw, and a major tongue injury.

His hardworking family has taken time off of work in order to be with Fabian as he fights to survive. Fabian’s mother has been staying at the Ronald McDonald House to remain near her son. Her vehicle also could not handle the trips and has since broken down. The family is not only having to cope with the major injury to their son, taking care of their other child, but now also faces financial disaster as well.

A Go Fund Me Account has been set up on the family’s behalf to help them through this difficult time.
