At around 8:30 a.m. officers searched for the source of the smoke and located a structure fire in the 6900 block of Pearl Street. Two occupants were evacuated by the first responding officers and the fire quickly spread due to the high winds.
Cal Fire responded to the fire and worked to keep it from spreading to other homes. Once the fire was out, Cal Fire personnel noticed what appeared to be a marijuana cultivation. The Riverside Sheriff’s Marijuana Eradication Team (MET) responded to the scene to assume the investigation.
A search warrant that was requested, and served, leading to the arrest of Guillermo Romero, a 46-year-old Jurupa Valley man. He was booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center for the marijuana cultivation.
This investigation is on-going, and the Jurupa Valley Police Department requests that anyone with additional information contact Deputy R. Carrasco at 951-955-2600.
