RIVERSIDE – Fourteen firefighters from the City of Riverside Fire Department responded to a large FedEx truck on fire on the eastbound 91 freeway at around 9:55 p.m. Monday night. Upon arrival, firefighters located the truck with a fully involved engine and cab near the Tyler Street off ramp.
As a result of the fire,officials said that one of the side fuel tanks exploded and fire spread to nearby grass and shrubs. Through an aggressive attack, firefighters were quickly able to knock down the fire. No injuries were reported as a result of the fire. Firefighters and CHP officers were able to stop the fuel, oil and water runoff keeping it out of the storm drains. The California Highway Patrol is investigating the incident.
