FONTANA, Calif. – Two Fontana Animal Service officers quickly sprung into action when they saw a single-vehicle traffic collision on Wednesday.
At around 9:00 a.m., Animal Service Officers, Vanessa Valverde, and Sarah Carden were near Cherry and Jurupa Avenues when they heard a loud noise. They looked in the direction of the noise and saw a white SUV on its side. They knew that the driver was trapped in the vehicle so they ran to the vehicle to render aid to the driver who was the sole occupant in the vehicle. As they approached they noticed that the elderly male driver was disoriented.
Vanessa climbed into the SUV through the driver’s side window since the doors were damaged and unable to be opened. Together the two women got the elderly male victim out through the window. Police and medical personnel responded to the scene a short time later. The driver of the vehicle suffered only minor injuries as a result of the collision.
