FONTANA, Ca. – The motive is still unknown for a shooting and assault that took place at a Fontana home on Sunday evening.
The assault and shooting occurred when the victim heard a knock at his door just before 7:00 p.m. at the home in the 13700 block of Meadow Court. The 37-year-old male victim saw that it was his neighbor, identified as Jason Lorenzana, 38. He opened the door and Lorenzana immediately opened fire, shooting a second, unintended victim. The victim attempted to grab the gun from Lorenzana leading to a struggle, where the victim was struck in the head several times. Lorenzana eventually fled the scene in a vehicle.
The 51-year-old victim called 911 to report the incident. When officers arrived, they found the 37-year-old victim suffering from blunt force trauma to his head and the 51-year-old victim shot in the arm. Both were transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Lorenzana was located at a Norco gas station in the City of Norco. A traffic stop was conducted and he was arrested without incident.
Currently, detectives haven’t discovered a motive for the shooting and the investigation is on-going. Lorenzana was transported to the West Valley Detention Center and booked for attempted murder. He is being held in lieu of $1 million bail.
