FONTANA – A 25-year-old Fontana man was arrested for attempted murder on Monday as a result of a shooting that took place last Thursday. Authorities said that at around 12:40 a.m. on Thursday, January 19, 2017, the victim and Juan Santamaria were involved in a verbal altercation in the 13000 block of Iris Drive in the City of Fontana.
The altercation escalated and Santamaria physically attacked the victim. The victim got into his vehicle and drove away from the location while Santamaria shot at the victim several times with a shotgun. Although the gunshots hit the victim’s vehicle causing damage, the victim was not injured as a result of the shots fired.
Deputies from the Fontana Station responded, but Santamaria fled the scene prior to their arrival. On Monday, January 23, 2017, San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Enforcement Division located and arrested Santamaria in the 9000 block of Pepper Avenue in the City of Fontana.
Santamaria was booked at the Central Detention Center for attempted murder.
