FONTANA – The death of a two year old girl lead to the arrest of her mother and grandfather on Monday authorities said.
On Monday, October 24, 2016, just before 9:15 p.m. the Fontana Police and emergency medical personnel responded to a home on the 16700 block of Slover Avenue for the report of a child not breathing. When they arrived, the child was determined to be dead at the scene sparking an investigation.
Through investigation, police located significant evidence indicating that the child was neglected and abused. This abuse and neglect are believed to have contributed to the child’s death. Cheyenne Cob, the 20-year-old mother of the child and Jon Palechek, the 47-year-old stepfather to Cobb, were arrested for child abuse causing death.
Both Cobb and Palechek were booked into the West Valley Detention Center in Rancho Cucamonga. Cobb and Palechek are being held in lieu of $100,000 bail and are scheduled to appear at the Rancho Cucamonga court on Thursday morning.
