RIVERSIDE COUNTY – A Le Mars, Iowa man died as a result of a solo vehicle collision on the 10 freeway westbound, west of Cottonwood Springs Road on Sunday. At around 6:40 a.m. 38-year-man from Ireton, Iowa man, identified as Dennis Perrin was driving a 2001 Dodge Ram pickup westbound on the 10 freeway. For reasons that still remain under investigation, he allowed the truck to drift off of the right side of the roadway, onto the dirt shoulder, overturning onto its right side.

The vehicle passenger, a 36-year-old Le Mars, Iowa man was not wearing his seatbelt which allowed for him to be ejected from the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity is pending notification of next of kin.

Perrin was transported to the hospital with moderate injuries. The cause of the collision remains under investigation, although drugs and alcohol do not appear to be a factor in the collision.
