FONTANA – Two men found deceased in a Fontana parking lot was learned to be a result of a murder-suicide authorities said.
On Saturday, December 29, 2017, at around 6:30 a.m. officers were dispatched to the 11200 block of Poplar Avenue in the City of Fontana for a shooting that occurred in a business parking lot. was When the officers arrived at the unused logistics company parking lot they found that two men were suffering from gunshot wounds. One of the men was pronounced dead at the scene, while the second was transported to the hospital where he also died as the result of his injuries.
Through investigation, it was learned that a woman met Joshua Powers, 39, of Moreno Valley, in the parking lot. While there the suspect, Jason Lyles, 30, of Rialto, came to the location and confronted the woman about the meeting. Authorities believe that the woman and Lyles who have dated in the past began arguing. Lyles produced a handgun and shot Powers and then turned the gun on himself, committing suicide. The woman was uninjured as a result of the incident.
