RIVERSIDE – A Former Riverside County Sheriff’s deputy was found guilty on Tuesday of a 2014 shooting murder of his then-neighbor, officials said. On the evening of Monday, June 30, 2016, deputies responded to a shooting in the 23900 block of Wildwood Lane in Crestline.
Upon arrival, they a found 38-year-old Crestline man identified as Michael Clark shot in the face. He was rushed to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly after his arrival. Through investigation, detectives learned that his next door neighbor, Steven Baumgartner was the shooter. It was determined that the two had an ongoing dispute leading to the shooting.
Baumgartner was arrested for murder, found guilty on Tuesday, September 27, 2016 and will be sentenced on Wednesday, October 26, 2016. Baumgartner now faces 40 years to life in prison.
